Description: Built in 1807 by David H. Sumner as having been designed by the famous Asher Benjamin, The Sumner Mansion Inn sits on the hill overlooking the charming town of Hartland, VT, once known as Sumner Village. This is one of the finest Federal Mansions in New England, and graces the National Register of Historic Homes. For over 20 years, the Sumner Mansion has been operated as a Bed and Breakfast Inn with a sterling reputation. Most recently, the owners have re-established the Mansion Inn as a premier event and lodging venue. It is licensed as a 5 bedroom Inn and events venue with a land use permit that allows for exterior events. There are four expertly decorated suites with fireplaces and one other companion bedroom on the 2nd floor. One suite is handicap accessible on the main level. Renovations both interior and exterior have been completed by the current owners retaining period elegance and antique features. In addition to lodging, the Mansion Inn can accommodate 90 guests for dining and 130 for cocktails in the Grand Ball Room. Venturing outside to the manicured grounds, you will find Vermont's oldest and largest Sugar Maple Tree known to exist, a beautifully crafted slate patio, formal gardens, and pastoral views. This is one you will want to see.
